Before you start making the Snow Maiden costume …

  • sneguro4ka4The main condition in this process is not too fluffy bottom of the suit, and not too open – the top.
  • The headdress depends on the imagination of the mother and the materials available in the house.
  • And boots (felt boots, shoes) dress those that are available. It is desirable that they are in harmony with the costume. If there are none, you can make graceful shoe covers for the child’s leg. And when funds permit, you can buy boots. Again, white, blue or silver.

For starters, it is worth looking into the closet and the mezzanine. For a child’s costume of the Snow Maiden, any dress made of elegant, preferably dense and shiny material is quite suitable.

It remains only to decorate it with a fur trim (or tinsel), create an elegant collar and decorate the hem with rhinestones, snowflakes or beads – in general, whoever has enough imagination for what.

Suit materials:

  • We make a New Year's costume of the Snow Maiden for a girl in a kindergarten or school with our own hands!Satin shirt with straps (shoulder straps);
  • Unnecessary openwork curtain or lace doily;
  • Elastic bandage (wide elastic band);
  • Foil, leaf or gift wrapping from flowers;
  • Christmas tree rain, tinsel, shiny garlands;
  • Shiny stickers of snowflakes or just patterns;
  • Rhinestones, beads, sequins (everything that is in stock);
  • Tools (stapler, glue (preferably pistol, but another will do), a needle, thread, scissors);
  • A roll of unnecessary wallpaper (sheet), cardboard;
  • White, lightweight, faux fur for trimming (if available);
  • Plug paint.

We sew a sundress for the Snow Maiden:

  1. To create a pattern, take a sheet of wallpaper. Circle your daughter’s T-shirt on the sheet and paint in such a way that you get a dress.
  2. Circle the pattern on the fabric of an old shirt. When outlining the back side of the sundress, make the neckline cutout less deep than on the front side.
  3. Make a seam allowance (at least one centimeter) and, cutting out patterns from the fabric, sew both sides, leaving cutouts for the sleeves.
  4. Along the neckline of the sundress, along its hem and cutouts for the sleeves, make a piping from the straps and fringes of the shirt.
  5. Trim the bottom of the hem of the sundress with shiny tinsel (fur).
  6. Sew on the front side of the sundress (from the throat to the bottom of the hem) with two even vertical stripes large sequins-snowflakes or fur.
  7. Sew large tinsel snowflakes instead of buttons between the stripes.

Cape for the Snow Maiden:

  • To create a pattern, again, take a sheet of wallpaper. Draw a large circle, and in its center a small circle, which will be the neck. Three-quarters of the resulting circle is a cape pattern. To cut.
  • Circle the pattern on the fabric (on a shirt, or other existing fabric to match the main one), taking into account the seam allowances and cut out again.
  • Trim the edges of the cape with the existing piping and trim with shiny tinsel (fur).
  • Sew tinsel snowflakes on each side of the cape in front.
  • Sew a pair of straps at the neckline – cape ties.
  • The cape, if desired and possible, can be painted with fabric paint. For example, create a light frosty pattern with a silver color. Or embroider large snowflakes on the fabric with sequins.

Snow Maiden’s crown:

  1. We make a New Year's costume of the Snow Maiden for a girl in a kindergarten or school with our own hands!Draw a crown on paper and cut it out. The shape of the crown depends on the imagination of the mother and the wishes of the child.
  2. Try on a blank paper crown on your daughter and choose the optimal cutout for her face. Circle the final pattern on cardboard (crown base) and cut out.
  3. The fabric for the crown can be taken from the same shirt and, having chosen the desired color, painted with the paint of the required shade available at home. You can also purchase a can of silver paint, or fabric paint for these purposes. The main thing is that the paint is not allergic – after all, the child will have to spend a lot of time in this crown.
  4. After painting, dry the fabric and iron it through cheesecloth.
  5. Circle the pattern of the future crown on the fabric and, leaving a seam allowance, cut it out.
  6. Cover the front of the crown with fabric, fold over the edges of the fabric and secure them with a stapler on the back side.
  7. Cut off the lace and paint with the same paint to match the main color of the crown.
  8. Sew the dried and ironed lace to the crown so that part of the lace falls over the forehead. That is, the lace, in the end, should cover the entire crown and part of the forehead.
  9. We make a New Year's costume of the Snow Maiden for a girl in a kindergarten or school with our own hands!Sew large beads around the edge of the crown, and glue a large snowflake in the center. It can be made from wrapping floral paper, foil, or any other handy material.
  10. Sew (glue) white tinsel (fur) along the cutout of the crown, and put a Christmas tree rain (“earrings”) on both sides of the crown, five centimeters each.
  11. On the back of the crown, glue a piece of fabric cut out according to the pattern (you can do the same).
  12. Glue shiny stickers of snowflakes (patterns) around the perimeter of the back of the crown.
  13. Sew on an elastic band so that the crown holds perfectly, and at the same time, does not sit too tight on the child’s head. To do this, you can use an elastic bandage about five cm wide. Of course, the bandage (elastic band) must also be painted to match the crown.
  14. Mask all seams with beads and sequins.
  15. The suit is ready.

Suit to school

sneguro4ka2As you know, nothing is impossible. And sewing a Snow Maiden costume with your own hands is not at all as difficult as it seems. This outfit will consist of a cape, an upper and a lower dress – and, of course, a headdress.

It is preferable to choose the fabric – white or blue brocade, but if it is absent, you can stop at other options available in the wardrobes and on the mezzanines.

The trim of the sleeves and hem in this case is white light fur.

Suit materials:

  • Tulle (or other lightweight fabric);
  • Tracing paper for patterns (wallpaper);
  • Brocade (or other smart and dense fabric);
  • White lightweight fur (artificial). In its absence, the fur is replaced with shiny tinsel;
  • Bake (strip of fabric for decoration);
  • Beads, sequins, beads, foil;
  • Tools (scissors, thread, needle, glue).

Snow Maiden’s bottom dress:

  1. According to the pattern (which can be printed and enlarged), transfer the details of the lower dress to tracing paper (wallpaper), based, of course, on the size of the child. Pattern of the lower dress for the Snow Maiden costume

  4. Measure the baby’s chest with a “centimeter” and cut the elastic to the appropriate length.
  5. Insert an elastic band into the resulting “drawstring” (upper stitched edge) and sew the ends tightly.
  6. For the straps, cut out strips of the same fabric (five by forty cm).
  7. Sew the edges of the future straps, then turn them to the front side, iron and sew to the dress.

  5. Cut, according to the transferred pattern and the length of the child’s arms, the sleeves for the upper dress from the same fabric.
  6. Fold (wrong side out) in half each sleeve, stitch and sew to top dress.
  7. Cut out a fur trim for the sleeves of the dress, sew on the lower edge of the sleeve and overcast the seams.
  8. Sew a large beautiful button at the neck of the top dress. You can also pin an elegant brooch or create something similar based on your imagination.

Helpful tips for moms

  • sneguro4ka1For a crumbs suit, you can use everything that is at home – for example, a nylon curtain or a fluffy baby blanket of the corresponding color. You can also use a regular raincoat or a light coat in white or blue and decorate it with tinsel, fur and sequins.
  • From white yarn, you can weave braids for the Snow Maiden – and sew them to the hat.
  • For the crown (if suddenly the child categorically wants exactly the crown as the headdress of the Snow Maiden), you only need shiny silver tinsel (narrow and tough) and bendable thick wire. Tinsel is wrapped around – or put on a wire. Next, a circle is built from the wire on the head, and rays (triangles, stars, etc.) are already created from this circle.
