Educational program on dermatological personal protective equipment (DSIZ)
Not so long ago, previously unknown skin products became available in stores. Since their area of application – face and hands – is similar to popular creams, the new products did not cause a stir. Like the cosmetics familiar to the consumer, they have the usual packaging, which says “cream for the skin of hands and face”. But it is worth taking a closer look at them: with an external similarity to cosmetics, they belong to dermatological personal protective equipment (DSIZ). And first of all, they are protective, and only then – they take care of the skin and moisturize it.
Skin protection as one of the product categories has existed for a long time and is well known to employees of industries and enterprises. Most often, this group of funds is abbreviated as DSIZ. They appeared in Russia in 2004 after the entry into force of the RF Government Decree “On Approval of the Regulation on the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation”.
According to this document, the responsibilities of the Ministry of Health include the approval of labor protection requirements and standards, which include “free issuance of washing and neutralizing agents to workers” (the standards are spelled out in Order No. 1122N). In other words, companies are obliged to provide professional skin care products to those of their employees who, during their work, come into contact with hazardous chemicals or pollutants or work in hazardous conditions.
Until recently, DSIZ were available only to production employees, since enterprises purchased them in large quantities and distributed them among workers. But several years ago, manufacturers of DSIZ took care of you and me, because every day, at work or at home, we are faced with a whole “fan” of factors harmful to the skin: chemical compounds, dust, extreme solar radiation, allergens.
Let’s consider what kind of professional protection is, using a specific example. If a person works in a complex production, for example, in an oil refinery, he must be appropriately dressed: protective suit, helmet, gloves, shoes, face shield (if necessary). The listed equipment is tools for protecting a person in hazardous working conditions, they are issued by the enterprise. But in the process of activity it is sometimes necessary to take off gloves, since certain types of work must be performed with bare hands. In this case, the skin will not be protected from machine oil, dyes, chemicals, moisture, dust, temperature changes.
Of course, such contacts do not lead to anything good. At first, a simple skin irritation may occur, which risks turning into dermatitis, inflammation, eczema. It was to prevent this danger that the Ministry of Health, together with labor protection engineers, created a series of DSIZs and forced them to be used in production.
Personal skin protection products are classified into:
1. Creams that are applied to the skin before work. In turn, they are:
– hydrophilic, absorbing moisture and moisturizing the skin surface, which later makes it much easier to wash off dirt from your hands;
– hydrophobic, repelling moisture, they are used during direct contact with water and chemical compounds;
– protecting from such natural factors as UV radiation, temperature extremes, wind;
– protecting against insects.
2. Pastes, gels, soaps that cleanse the skin after work and are capable of without harm to the skin wash off machine oil, glue, paint, varnishes, which otherwise can be wiped off with gasoline, solvent, sandpaper.
3. Regenerating creams and emulsions… Of course, using them does not promise you growing a new finger on your hand, just as a lizard grows its tail again. But damaged skin recovers many times faster, even one that has already suffered the impact of harsh working conditions in production. These funds relieve redness, peeling, irritation and dryness, heal microcracks, and remove the unpleasant feeling of tightness.
It should be noted that people who work in constant contact with a harmful environment have increased skin sensitivity, so its protection and care should be as natural and gentle as possible. For this reason, manufacturers of DSIZ use skin-friendly caring components, including complexes of vitamins, essential oils, antioxidants, and plant extracts. Some of them Free of silicones, parabens, dyes and preservatives, which is even more beneficial for sensitive skin.
The question arises, why do ordinary people need this information, because we work in absolutely not harmful jobs, and someone in general is only engaged in housekeeping?
Of course, these protective measures are not needed by everyone and everyone, cosmetics that can be obtained in ordinary stores can easily cope with ordinary problems. But if you often come into contact with detergents or water, if you are an artist, paint with oil paints, or like to dig in the garden and even have a whole flower greenhouse, or plan to do major repairs, you want to sort out the engine with your own hands – in other words, if the work does not wait and skin health is not in the last place, then DSIZ will not be superfluous.
Another important point is cost. Buying DSIZ, you will not overpay, for the price they do not exceed the cost of a good hand cream in a supermarket. But be sure to pay attention to the instructions before use in order to know exactly how and when to use this tool.
