This St. John Bosco vs. Long Beach Poly game will be a classic. The 1960 game was the pivotal game in the history of local high school football. In the crowd were four future NFL players, one future professional baseball player and one future college football star. As a result, this game has become a part of high school athletics legend. The two teams have met just three times in the past five weeks. The Saints won their first two meetings in league play and will face JSerra in the semifinals. On Friday, Long Beach Poly upset Long Beach Millikan, 42-28. The Saints believe they can make deep runs in the postseason. The Saints will be playing JSerra in the CIF-SS Division 1 final on Monday. The Saints will play Long Beach Millikan in the semifinals on Tuesday. The Spartans will face the same team on Wednesday in the semifinals.

They will face JSerra in the semifinals on Friday night.

The Saints’ boys’ basketball team won their St. John Bosco Tournament on Tuesday. It tied for the game-high mark with Poly’s Jovani Ruff with 17 points. The Spartans dominated the game, with a balanced scoring attack. However, the Spartans will face Mater Dei on Friday. Neither team has a better record than the other.

In the CIF-SS Division 1 boys’ basketball playoffs, Bosco and St. Anthony will play. In the Del Rey League, St. Bernard and Long Beach Poly will compete in the final. The winner will be the winner of the tournament. At the St. John Bosco vs Long Beach Poly girls’ basketball game, the Spartans will play the Saints on Sunday.

On Friday, St. Anthony won the game, 60-57. The score was a good reflection of the Saints’ overall effort. The defenses of St. John Bosco were solid. The Long Beach Poly quarterback was sophomore Darius Curry for most of the game. They did not have the injured Daylen Austin, so the offense had to make do with a substitute.
