Larry Linville was an American Actor best known for his portrayal of Major Frank Burns on M*A*S*H and several television series and movies during his career. On April 10, 2000 at age 60 from complications related to surgery for lung removal complications following lung removal surgery for cancer treatment, Linville unexpectedly passed away from complications of pneumonia at his own residence due to declining health issues that had been plaguing him since previous operations were performed on him.

Linville was an accomplished actor during his short life and enjoyed traveling with his family. His acting talents became apparent early on and were encouraged by his parents; he began his professional acting career in the early 1960s with several television shows and films before landing the role of Major Burns on M*A*S*H from 1972 until 1977, which brought critical acclaim as well as making him a household name.

Linville continued his television appearances post-M*A*S*H and can be found as a guest star in numerous episodes of Murder She Wrote; Fantasy Island; The Love Boat; The FBI Story; CHiPs and The Rockford Files. Additionally he appeared in the TV movie The Night Stalker as well as playing Captain George Kramer on Mannix.

He was a beloved actor on stage as well, finding great challenge in portraying a father grieving the loss of his daughter. A member of Actors Studio for many years, Larry Gelbart would interview him for Memories of M*A*S*H before later hosting a reunion of its cast at Hollywood Bowl in 1997.

Linville is survived by his family as well as a grandson. Linville was laid to rest off the coast of Bodega Bay in California and will be deeply missed by his fans and friends. However, his legacy lives on in perpetuity – during his lifetime, Linville won multiple awards for his work on M*A*S*H and other television projects. He was an extraordinarily generous and kind individual, giving back to the community through charitable contributions. He will long be remembered for his talent and generosity – beloved characters on M*A*S*H will surely miss him and will remain in our thoughts and prayers for many years to come.
