Pavel Karelin, a Russian ski jumper, has died.
On the morning of Sunday, October 9, 2011, Pavel Karelin, the most talented Russian ski jumper, died in a car accident near Nizhny Novgorod.
He turned 21 in April.
This death added to the sad list of losses of our sport – such talented winter sports athletes as skier Alexander Zhirov, winner of 4 stages of the World Cup, two-time world champion, silver medalist of the Olympic Games and winner of the World Cup in freestyle Sergey Shchupletsov died in car accidents. This is just a shortlist.
Pavel Karelin did not have time to get to the big pedestals. Only the podium of the 4-Hills-Tournament remained in his collection.
SkiRan expresses its deep condolences to the relatives of Pavel Karelin.
