Bedding Sets: 3 Tips for Choosing the Best Option for Your Needs

Your skin is scratchy. You can’t quite get comfortable. You picked the wrong bedding set and it’s coming back to haunt you.

The question is: how do you choose the right one? That’s where this article comes in. Below, we’re going to provide you with 3 tips for choosing bedding sets, helping you find the perfect bed sets for your needs.

Ready? Let’s begin!

Test Out Different Fabrics

The most important thing to do when choosing bedding sets is to test out different fabrics. Odds are, there are some fabrics out there that your skin/mind doesn’t agree with. You’ll want to ensure your bedding set doesn’t contain substantial amounts of these fabrics.

Like a smooth and silky feel? If so, you should consider going with a velvet bed set.

Perhaps you’d like a little more friction? If so, you should look for a fabric that’s textured.

Cotton offers a good in-between. It’s not too smooth but not too rough either. If you’re buying without testing first, it’s probably your best bet.

But, if possible, rub the bedding against your skin first. Only by physically testing it can you really determine whether it’s right for you.

Consider the Color Scheme of Your Room

Your bedding comprises a fairly large portion of your room’s aesthetic. Therefore, when choosing a bedding set, you must ensure its color jives with the rest of your room. In other words, you need to consider your room’s color scheme.

Does your room have purple walls? If so, you might want to avoid a wildly contrasting color like yellow or orange.

Does your room have gray or white walls? If so, essentially any color is aesthetically viable.

In any case, think about how your new bed set will affect your room’s overall look. Ideally, it will fit the existing aesthetic like a glove.

Mind the Thread Count

Our last piece of advice is to mind the threat count of the bed set. Thread count refers to the number of threads existing within a square inch of the bedding.

Some believe that the higher the thread count, the better the bedding will be. In reality, however, too high a thread count could result in a lack of breathability, thereby causing the user to become too warm.

If you tend to get warm in your sleep, try to keep your thread count below 500. If you’re cold while asleep, consider an 800 thread count or greater.
