Floyd Little Net Worth: Hall-of-Famer Running Back Known as ‘The Franchise’ Dies at 78

Little, commonly referred to as “The Franchise”, died peacefully on New Year’s Day at his Henderson, Nevada home at age 78. Little spent his entire nine-year career with the Denver Broncos where he led in both rushing yards twice and touchdowns five times; was an original charter member of their Ring of Honor and named an All-AFL/NFL first or second-team player four consecutive seasons.

At Syracuse University, he earned three All-American selections and ran for 2,704 yards and 46 touchdowns during his college career. When he retired from professional football in 1975, he took an active role on many boards of directors while providing inspirational motivational speeches worldwide.

Little was married to DeBorah for over 50 years; she survived him along with their children and grandchildren.

Floyd Little was a three-time All American at Syracuse University before going on to play for the Denver Broncos in their 117 games and amassing 6,323 yards and 43 touchdowns rushing. Five Pro Bowl selections later, he retired ranked seventh on NFL’s career rushing list and retired as seventh on all time career rushing list.

Little was well-recognized in his community as well, serving on various volunteer initiatives and charities that assisted those less fortunate, working with homeless individuals and supporting cancer research research efforts. Furthermore, Little participated in youth programs within Waterbury Connecticut.

Little’s pro football career may have fallen short of winning him a Super Bowl; but his legacy lives on with over 4,000 rushing and receiving touchdowns scored, two All-Star selections, AFC-NFC Pro Bowl selection, two AFL All-Star appearances, as well as being recognized with two AFL All-Star honors and Pro Bowl selections.

Although speculation over Floyd Mayweather’s retirement is inevitable, it seems unlikely he will pull up his gloves anytime soon. With an estimated worth estimated by The Richest at $650 Million or Celebrity Net Worth at $400 Million respectively, Mayweather remains well positioned to continue generating massive sums of income for many years ahead.

On January 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, former world heavyweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr will face Berto in his next fight. If he wins, his earnings could top $500 million; even if he doesn’t, however, there will likely still be plenty left over from previous victories; only time will tell whether his final fight ends on an impressive or disappointing note.
