In 2003, Selena starred in a full-length film for the first time – “Spy Kids 3”, however, in a cameo role, followed by filming in episodes of little-known TV series, but already in 2006, Selena got a role in the popular project “Hanna Montana”, which went on the air for five years. Collaboration with the Disney channel has greatly contributed to the development of Selena’s career and brought her many roles: The Wizards of Waverly Place, Princess Protection Program other.

Despite the success in film and television, Selena herself at that time was not easy: the star admits that during her school years she had almost no friends, she often suffered from ridicule and self-doubt.

In 2008, Selena first tried herself as a singer, taking part in the recording of the video for the Jonas Brothers, after which for several years she sang with the group The Scene, and in 2013 her first solo album was released.

Health problems and personal life

In 2011, Selena was at the peak of popularity: fame, millions of fans, great deals, but suddenly everything changed – the star was diagnosed with lupus erythematosus. She had to undergo chemotherapy and later undergo a kidney transplant due to complications.

A serious chronic illness not only knocked Selena out of her usual way of life and forced her to interrupt her career, but also affected the mental state of the girl: she began to be haunted by frequent panic attacks and depression. In 2016, the star underwent treatment in a rehab, which is located far from civilization, in order to cope with emotional problems.

In the personal life of the star, not everything is smooth either: in 2010, she began dating Justin Bieber, and since then the couple have repeatedly converged and diverged. The last attempt at reunification was made in the fall of 2017, but it was not crowned with success. The singer was very upset by breaking up with her lover. The subsequent relationship also did not bring Selena any consolation: the affair with the musician The Weeknd did not last long and also ended in parting.

Now Selena Gomez is trying not to look back and move on. Despite numerous problems and difficulties, the girl continues to be creative: in 2018 she starred in the picture of Woody Allen “A Rainy Day in New York”then appeared in a Jim Jarmusch film “The Dead Don’t Die”, and this year her new album “Rare” was released. In addition, Selena has collaborated with the brands Puma, Adidas and Coach.
